Design Engineer: PDS Engineering
Structural engineering for two natural gas vehicle refueling stations located in San Bernardino and Redondo Beach, California. Southern California Gas Company was the owner and developer of the project. The structural engineering for each $250,000 refueling station entailed the design and detailing of the foundation and supports for the equipment. This included two natural gas compressors, each with a 25-cubic-feet-per-minute capacity, and storage space for 20,000 cubic feet of compressed natural gas. Special considerations were given to the impact of lateral and dynamic loads and weight on the foundation.
FCI Constructors, Inc. Southern Division Headquarters
Architect: Schucard Associates, Inc.
Structural engineering for the Southern Division offices of FCI Constructors, a large national general contracting firm specializing in bridges and freeways, in Vista, California. The scope of work included structural engineering design, calculations, specifications and drawings.

The project encompasses 5,000 square feet of existing office space and new 6,000 square feet of additional space. The structural engineering for the single-story, wood-frame building involved the use of roof trusses to provide open interior areas and large masonry retaining walls to compensate for the steeply-sloped lot.
